This ongoing project will be the most detailed ever scale model of the historical house in Amsterdam.
In development since 2014, this 1:20 model will show Prinsengracht 263 (the 'Anne Frank House') in 1944 appearances. Fully handcrafted, it will feature an extremely high level of detail.
The completed miniature will be at 1:20 scale, making it approximately 120 cm long and 70 cm wide.
By visiting several times, making diagrammes, and taking notes during each visit, it was possible to obtain a lot of information about the house. For the Annex portion specifically, it was also helpful to walk through the rooms in virtual reality, available for free on Meta Quest.
No. The model is being fully made by hand, with no pre-fabricated parts or components, except for electical wiring and light bulbs.
It comes from a combined fascination with the Second World War (particularly the Western fronts and, in particular, the Holocaust), with miniatures, and with architecture.
There are currently no specific plans about where the completed model will go.
